It’s a Chinese New Year!

People, hold on to your Red Fire Monkey because it is Chinese New Year at Teatro!
The “Year of the Monkey” begins on February 3 and continues through February 12th, and Chef Ted Espiritu of Teatro Restaurant at the Park Rotana will celebrate with special menu items for the New Year.

Teatro — For My (blank) Birthday

And still, minus all of the schmoozing — it was a very, very good experience. The one consistent comment I hear when I discuss Teatro with friends and acquaintances is that Teatro’s menu provides something for everyone and it is almost always a guarantee that you will always receive fresh, very well prepared photographically beautiful meals by a top notch team.

The Sushi Class

My first faux pas was to violently try to remove the clear wrap from the bamboo mat. Conditioned to unpack everything within my reach like a zombie in a trance, and frustrated that the clear wrap was getting the best of me, I clinched my teeth to apply the death grip and rip it off like my life depended on it until a quiet soft-spoken sous chef whispered Madam, it is supposed to be there.

Smoking Doll

All I needed was a smoke machine and I would’ve been ready for a fiery fan dance popularized during the Joseon Dynasty. What makes this place unusual and refreshing is the vibe. Smoking Doll is Asian exotic — not Asian kimono with cherry blossoms.

Angelina – Yas Mall

In addition to Angelina’s world-famous tearoom serving artistically created desserts that epitomize the French way of living, Angelina also offers a full breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner menu in the same luxuriously indulgent fashion as in Paris. During our visit we were graciously accommodated by a full staff that was eager for us to enjoy the Angelina experience so much so that we began to feel like we stepped out of a Renoir painting.

Dining Around Yas Mall

It was veggie art on a plate. I wanted to eat it so badly but I had to stare at it for awhile because it was so stinking pretty — I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. In the end it did taste as good as it looked but the highlight of dining experience was the best baba ganoush I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!

Sushi Central

You may say, if I live in Khalifa City sushi that has been riding around in a metal case on the back of a motorcycle doesn’t sound too appetizing …. you are right, it doesn’t — but here’s the secret: They have a kitchen in Khalifa City that prepares everything fresh for your delivery. Now we are talking…. Right?
